Christmas - that time of year when most of us are searching for that perfect gift to give. We search high and low to find it. Once we’ve found and purchased our gift, we make sure to wrap it in beautifully colored paper and tie it with ribbon. It is a special treasure we have hand-picked to give to someone very special.
There is another gift though, a Treasure, one that comes from God and He places it in all believers. This Gift, this Treasure, is the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ.
“7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Cor 4:7) The knowledge of Christ - and the relationship that comes with it - are the greatest treasures we, earthen vessels, could ever receive.
Paul said of this glorious gift, “More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ." (Philippians 3:8).
As we venture in to the new year and this Awakening fast, may we always endeavor to talk about this wonderful, perfect gift. The Gift that is the Glory of Christ. A gift meant to be shared year-round.
