We are here but for a moment in time. 2 Peter 3:8, “But Beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
Time as we know it is soon to come to an end. So we should ask ourselves what we should do with these precious moments that we have left. Why don’t we touch somebody’s life.
Everywhere you look, you see a life that is void of hope and often full of despair. We could assume that those lives do not know the hope of God’s glory and salvation. We have been commissioned as the children of God to reach out to the lost - the sin sick souls - and let them know of a God who loves them. Spread brotherly love and show charity (love) to the unlovely. Show kindness to all. Hebrews 13:2 says, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unaware."
One of the most beautiful passages of scripture to me is found in John 21:15-17 (KJV). Jesus is speaking to Simon Peter (listen, he is speaking to you and me). He asks three times, “Simon Peter, son of Jonas, lovest thou me, more than these?” And Peter answered, “Yea Lord, you know that I love you.” Then Jesus said in response to Peter, “Then feed my lambs” and then again he says, “Then feed my sheep.”
If you love the Lord, reach out and share the gospel of salvation, the message of hope and the love of Jesus Christ. It is God’s desire that all should be saved, so we have a work to do. We are witnesses to the saving grace of Him. Be an effective witness, let your light so shine and touch somebody’s life.
During this time of fasting, pray for friends and family who don’t know the Lord. Ask God to use you in miraculous ways to share the Gospel. Use this fast to remember the goodness of God in your life and share your testimony with others.
